    Hi,
I am trying to pull in some old footage from a Hi8 Camcorder into Vegas Pro 8.0c with a ADS VideoXpress device. It is recognized in Vegas’ capture window but then another window comes up and says “The device Instant VideoXpress could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user”. I ended up importing the footage (with Instant VideoXpress) into Windows Movie Maker; saving it as dv-avi; then pulling it into Vegas. Any way I can save this step? Thanks for any help.

That is a USB capture device. I have heard of some USB devices working with Vegas but not all of them. If it’s not allowing it’s use, them movie maker is another option. There are other capture apps out there but since you have movie maker, why not use it?

Just save as NTSD DV avi and you’ll be able to inport them into Vegas. Capturing digital either way so the quality will be the same. Danny

    Hi,
I realized last night that I can use my DV camcorder as a analog-digital converter (once I turn off “Enable DV Device Control” in capture preferences). Hi8 camcorder to DV camcorder to computer via firewire. Thank you again,Danny, for taking the time to help.
