An Introduction from the largest CitiDISK HD distributor… (Hard Drive recorder for HVX200 and HDX900)
Hi everyone,
My name is Richard Kurtzer and I’m business development manager for ProCon Digital Systems. We’re the largest distributor for the CitiDISK and nNovia lines of digital video recorders. I’ll be on this forum to answer any questions you have on the CitiDISK HD recorders for your Panasonic HVX200 and HDX900 cameras.
To answer a few FAQs:
1. Yes, the CitiDISK HD records DVCPRO HD. More specifically, it records DVCPRO100, DVCPRO50, DV25 and DVCAM.
2. The CitiDISK HD has been shipping since August of 2006, there are several hundred in use in the field around the world.
3. The CitiDISK HD does not record the Native modes (24PN) or variable frame rate modes on the HVX200 yet. All other modes are supported.
I know the early adopters had some teething problems with the CitiDISK HD. The good news is the current systems are rock solid recording devices. We as a distributor and Shining Tech as a manufacturer are standing behind the product 100%. Since the first systems went out in August, Shining Tech has fixed all the recording bugs and have added support for DV control with P2 cards in the camera, Matrox Axio and Canopus Edius 4 file support and more. Firmware updates are always free, please contact me if you need the latest version or if you have any questions about the CitiDISK HD.
For all current CDHD-120 users: We have a fix for the “long record” problem and the current build CDHD-120s can record the entire 120gb in one take. We fixed this with a combination of firmware update and faster hard drive. Any current CDHD-120 owner who is having long record problems should contact me to make arrangements for a free hard drive and firmware upgrade.
