  AMP and VDCP protocol

  Hello,
  I’m studying video engineering in france, and i’m working on video server automation with switcher, mostly S&W (Kahuna).
  My study present the principal protocol provide by this switcher :
  AMP and VDCP.
  After studying those protocols, I don’t find the real difference between them. There use both the EIA RS-422 standard and working in the same way.
  The differences are the command code, but they can do almost the same work, VDCP has maybe more command than AMP.

  So, my question is : Is there a real difference between AMP or VDCP and is there some advantage or disadvantage ?
