AME CS5 Preset for iPad?
Posted by Tim Cavins on November 15, 2011 at 6:23 pmI’m trying to use Adobe Media Encoder to convert a .mov into an mp4 so it can play on an iPad.
Every option I’ve tried including downloading presets that say they work, will not work.
I get a screen with the quicktime logo, the name of the file and it’s size and a button saying Open in “Evernote”
Is there something with Evernote overriding this or do I need to change my settings in AME to export this properly?
Thanks

November 15, 2011 at 8:02 pmWhen I load the video through iTunes, I am able to play the video perfectly on the iPad.
Why would it work this way but not through the web? It plays fine in Internet Explorer on my PC so I don’t think it’s a mime type issue.
Any ideas?

How are you trying to play the file through the web? Are you linking directly to the mp4 file in Safari or is the mp4 file in the structure of an html page?

November 16, 2011 at 4:00 pmJohn,
I am linking directly to the mp4 file.
The video does work on an external facing website. I am using CISCO AnyConnect VPN on my phone to access our internal sites and those sites are not playing the mp4. So I don’t think it has anything to do with how it’s encoded/rendered.
I’m currently trying to go through IIS on the different machines to see if I see anything different.
I did see a link yesterday that someone said Sharepoint was causing the same issues for someone else until they added the mime types to the sharepoint server.

November 16, 2011 at 5:56 pmYou are right that your encoding settings are probably not the issue. You are now in the land of web programming, and that land is full of mine fields for us video guys.

February 12, 2013 at 3:39 pmIn Adobe Media encoder CS5, I simply dragged my HD Quicktime file to the Source window. Then I changed the preset to “Apple TV 720p”. Then “Start Queue”. It compressed it nearly in real-time. After compressing, I dragged the new .MP4 file to the Itunes “Movie” window for the iPad. In seconds I was able to play the great quality video in the iPad native Video App.
