I was reading about the computer below and was wondering would this machine speed vegas rendering up by a lot compared to my 1.73 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP

Yes, it would.
I am in the process of getting an Athlon 64 x2 4800+ system.
I ran a render test comparing my Dual Xeon 2.6 and Pentium 4 3.0GHz to an AMD 64 4000+ (single core)using Vegas 6 rendering DV footage with a lot of filter and pan/crop overhead. The AMD 64 was more than 2 1/2 times faster than either of them.Can’t wait to see the dual core 4800+ in action 🙂

It’s not actually built yet. The company I had ordered from turned out to be backordered on the CPU,so I am looking at a couple of other companies instead.
