Activity Forums Avid Media Composer AMA Workflow Question

    I am on MC 6.5.4

    I have DNXHD 145 720 59.94 footage.
I import the footage via AMA, cut my sequences.
Then, I consolidate and transcode the sequences
to allow me to export reference movies for Sorenson.

    Is this best practice workflow?
I ask as the footage already is recorded on an AJA at the same codec and frame rate I am using for the project.

Is both consolidation and transcoding necessary, or is there a better way?

You got it – if the source codec is considered “native” to Media Composer, then you should be able to just consolidate. If not, then you need to transcode as well in order to export a “same as source” for encoding in a third party application.

    As suspected, thanks Michael!
