  • alt+shift for replacing footage at same time not working

I’m replacing low res footage with high res, I’m holding alt+shift while dropping the new clip on top of the low res and it’s not keeping the same in points I initially set.

This worked fine until last night, and I did not change any shortcuts or anything else.

    Your help is appreciated.

Never used Alt-Shift-Drag, but use Alt-drag to replace clips all the time. It keeps the set in points of the clip I am dragging onto the timeline. If that’s what you’re looking for. I just tried Alt-Shift-drag and it seems to go to beginning of clip.

Really? Maybe I had it wrong this whole time. I use alt-drag to replace clips and have them keep the scale to fit feature activated, but I always thought that to also maintain the in point the shift keed was required.

I’ll check as soon as I have a minute, I’m on a deadline with my current project.

    Thanks for your help.

Alt+drag will do what you want.

When replacing a clip on the timeline with another clip from the Project panel or the Source panel, I only ever knew of Alt+drag. I love being shown this new shortcut!

Alt+drag replaces the clip according to the replacement clip’s in-point. Alt+Shift+drag seems to replace the clip according to the current clip’s in-point.

This only seems to work on a clip-by-clip basis, however. When I select multiple clips on the timeline and perform Alt+Shift+drag with a replacement clip, Premiere seems to produce through-edits of the replacement clip at every subsequent edit.
