  • Alternatives to HVX200 for long event filming- Need good suggestions!

    Hello all!

I’ve been filming events for a certain client since 2009 using the HVX200, and now need a good/practical alternative that can record long run times w/out stopping, at a minimum resolution of 720p.

Here’s the shoot setup: Until now it’s a 3 camera shoot, and the event requires about 1 hr 45 minutes of recording media, 720p/24pn (64g P2 card per camera).

The event is the ONLY thing I need the HVX for (just because it can record continuously w/out stopping)- The HVXs are becoming harder and harder to come by, and less cost efficient (especially the P2, when compared to something like compact flash, etc–I rent out all the gear). Can anyone recommend a potential alternative to this setup that can still record at least 40 minutes continuously? I would think there has to be one (with rental cost on par with a 5D, say), right?

    Thanks!
