    Hi,

I posted already in the AE forum and hope someone here may have ideas as well.

I just got the Zaxworks Invigorator Classic Plugin (ver3.0.3). Now I am realizing that it only works with AI files. I have AE 6.0Pro, Photoshop 7, PremPro 1.0 and EncoreDVD. Is there any way for me to use the Invigorator plugin with the software I already have in order to create 3D text? I really don’t want to have to purchase and learn Illustrator (as great as it is I’m sure) just to access the Invig plugin . . .

Some one mentioned using File>Export>paths to Illustrator command in Photoshop but I can’t seem to make that work — I keep getting the following message in Invig:

“There were no usable vector paths in this file”

    In PS I have tried:
    Layer>Type>Create Work Path
    or
    Layer>Type>Convert to Shape
    or
    Layer>Add Vector Mask>Reveal All

but none of these seems to give me any usable mask. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi David,

I’m going to be very direct here. To make the most of Invigorator, you really should get Illustrator. Not just to create text, but to manipulate and create logos and other elements which you can “Invigorate.” You can use other vector-based drawing programs, so long as they allow you to save the files in native Illustrator format. The Photoshop option which you mention is useful in very limited circumstances.

You can create 3D text without Illustrator very easily using either Invigorator Pro AE or ProAnimator.

    Hope this helps.

    Jon
