Are there any alternatives out there for MPEG Streamclip that are faster?

Maybe better hyper threaded? My 12 core mac is not maxed out when I convert MP4 to prores… perhaps it could go a lot faster?

Also own a copy of the latest Compressor (4.1.1). But the cores are also not maxed out, still using a ati 5750 so it should hit the CPU instead of the GPU, correct?

    Cheers!
    Karel.

I would use Compressor or FCPX to convert anything to Prores.

Adobe Media Encoder uses all your (CUDA) power and all your CPU cores aswell. If you have OS X 10.8 and above, Media Encoder will use the 64bit part of QTKit to provide you with additional speed when encoding Quicktime formats, i.e. the ProRes family of codecs.
