I have been using Power CG plus for over 10 years. It is a great Character Generator and it suites my work flow. It has coped with my move from Fast Video Machine to Vegas 4 thro vegas 8 (Vegas 9 does nor work for me ). It has worked from Win 95, 98, 2K to Win XP.
Now I have a laptop with win 7 which I hope will allow me to use Vegas 9 as V9 does not work, satisfactorily, on my Quod core with XP. I can not get the security dongle of the titler to work in win 7. Problem with Power CG is that old projects containing this titler’s events will not load unless the titler is enabled.

So, sadly, I am looking at replacing this titler. Vegas Pro Type Titler is too complex for me. Vegas text generator is fine but it is too basic.

I am looking for a titler
1 – text maintains it screen position so that when I add text, other text and assetts stay put.
2 – Status bar shows location of text or cursor position
3 – Colour picker to pick colour off the screen
4 – Reasonably smooth credit roll
5 – Ability to save templates would be nice.

I do not want any animated effects because Vegas does this for me,

    Any suggestions welcome.

    TIA

    Regards
    Mahesh

Take a look at Boris Graffiti. It has a lot more capabilities including animation but you can still use it for static titles. It also has Automated Rolls, Crawls, and a whole lot of stuff like Text on a Path, 3D extruded text, etc. but you can safely ignore all that and just make great static titles with it.

When I’m looking for something that pops without having to spend a lot of time I use Proanimator. I paid $350 for this SW back in 2007, it’s nearly twice the cost now OUCH!

When I’m looking for something to augment the capabilities of Vegas I use After Affects. After Affects is expensive and worth every penny as it can add production value that is hard to achieve with other applications.
