alternative program
Posted by Ilana Simons on December 4, 2017 at 4:32 pmI’ve finally tired of paying for a subscription service every year. Can anyone recommend an alternative one-time purchase program that achieves some of the tasks of photoshop?

December 4, 2017 at 6:28 pmI can’t say I’ve used either of these nearly as much as Photoshop (or enough to offer a real endorsement),
but this is a Mac only app I recently read a review of and that I’m kind of interested in ;
https://www.pixelmator.com/pro/And from time to time I’ve made good use of this (free) open source app (Mac and WIN) that’s been around awhile ;
https://www.gimp.org/I’m sure there are a lot of others…

December 5, 2017 at 7:31 pmAffinity photo would be the one that’s closest to Photoshop and making the most noise ath the moment. You’d have to prise photoshop out of my cold, dead fingers personally but if you can’t handle the payment method I think you’ll find Affinity covers all but your most extreme photoshop needs.

December 5, 2017 at 10:26 pmI use GIMP at home now, and it does the job, but I am strongly considering Affinity instead, as the GIMP interface and workflow, while competent, has a few idiosyncrasies that I personally find hold me back.
