  • Alpha when exporting from AE

    Hi all
I’m sure this has to be an easy fix.
I have a 3d object (ray traced renderer) with 80% transparency that looks just as I want it, ie transparent. When I remove the background colour (or footage) behind it, it appears to lose its transparency. On the trial renders I’ve done so far, it renders with a transparent background (which is good), but the alpha information held within the object itself is ignored and it just outputs as an opaque object.
    Any help greatly appreciated
    Russ

I think it has something to do with the transparency settings in the material options. This gives me the look i require but doesn’t export it appears.

    Hi Dave
Thanks for your reply. Yep, that’s exactly how I’m outputting.
‘Opacity’ changes are working fine, it’s just the ‘Transparency’ under material options is only effective when it has a shape layer or footage (ie something other than transparency) behind it. As the ray-traced renderer doesn’t support ‘underlying transparency’ I wondered if this could be the reason?
    Best regards
    Russ
