I cannot figure this out, spent hours trying different combinations.

I discovered this problem with the alpha when i tried to apply depth of field to my render. I am rendering within C4D using Arnold and have tried the Z depth (Which they say is not a good option) also a position pass both within the same EXR as an AOV and also a seperate render from Physical.

I think I managed to get a usable position pass for the depth, that aside I think the problem is with how the alpha is being interpreted in my beauty pass. When objects overlap and fall off into alpha (I have no BG in the scene, just a arnold sky with the camera rays set to 0) and you can see the jagged edges at these points in the image. (The red line is to show the edge of the floor plain on the horizon)

Is it how AE is interpreting the alpha? It looks fine within the render view in C4D.

Let me know if i can provide more info. thanks in advance!
