  • Alpha channels using the DV PAL codec

A client has asked for some graphics to be rendered out using the DV PAL codec for comping in FCP later on. However, when I output the movie it won’t let me specify an alpha channel, plus the render looks a little ropey compared to Animation codec, which renders crisply with the alpa intact.

Anyone supply their graphic files in DV PAL codec with alphas? Can you make them look any good? Am I using the right codec for 16:9 DV anyway?

The specs for DV do not have any alpha in it. You should use QT’s Animation or Uncompressed RGBA.

I wondered if that was the case – thanks for the help!
