Alpha channel icicles
I have a relief object in which I’ve used a greyscale height map that doesnt’ fill up the rectangle of the image. The remainder of the image background is black. I’ve made an alpha channel to cut out the black part, and show only the part that is made by the greyscale, and applied it to a material on the relief object. It cuts out the black allright, but now cleanly. All around the edge of the object there are what look like icicles hanging down. I’ve managed to minimize them somewhat by going into Photoshop and contracting the alpha channel selection by up to 5 pixels, but I can’t completely eliminate them. Does anyone know how to get a clean edge around this landscape? I’m keeping it as a Relief object so that i can animate the segment number as i fly in on it from a distance, so that it will become more detailed as you go closer. Don’t know if that makes any difference or not.
thanks,
Jack
