  • Alpha Channel from FCP to Flash 8

    hey guys

ive searched the web but cant seem to find an answer…

I have been supplied a “talking head” Quicktime file, (straight alpha) from AFX.

I have then pulled it into FCP (interpreted as straight alpha) – edited – and now export out again for flash. Ive exported Animation Millions+ (sequence not rendered).

When i open the exported file in QT – i seem to have lost the straight alpha (as it now has smoothe edges, like a premultiplied alpha).

then when its imported into flash 8 – it has a grey haze or fringe around the outside. i have no idea what to try to get the edges looking clean in flash.

I want to know – is there anyway i can specify in FCP that i want to export a straight alpha? … any advice much appreciated – deadline is tight

    thanks x

    Hi Jessica,
There are applicationslike AE or Combustion where you can choose the kind of Alpha channel when exporting (strait, premultiplied in Black or White). But in FC you can only export Strait Alpha channels. If you want to check if the Alpha of your movie is correct, just re-impot it to FC and set it on top of a background. QT player is not much useful for this task
