I was just trying a couple of different tutorials in motion. I built the wave from motionsmarts. I am curious, if i want to use it as a lower third say, how do i go about making it transparent for FCP ? I think i need to add a alpha channel, no ? Just curious.

The default setup for Motion is the Animation codec which has transparency.
You will need to build the surrounding masking and other elements for the lower third as other layers.

Be sure to study the section in the manual on importing .motn projects directly into FCP without rendering the movie first.
