    Hi there,

I am running a MAC Pro with Final Cut 6.06. I have 8gb of ram installed, as my system profiler indicates. But when I go to the Memory and Cache settings in Final Cut’s System Settings it won’t allow me to assign more than 2.5gb. (2560mb). On some major exports and renders I have opened the activity monitor and it shows that almost 5gb of ram is sitting idle. This is extremely frustrating. I would love to be able to use this unused power to speed up my work flow.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andrew.

FCP is incapable of using more than that.

You need a 64 bit OS, like Snow Leopard and an application written for 64 bit (FCP is not yet 64 bit).

    Right.
As John points this is what we are waiting for since few years.
But don’t get frustrated. Be patient and confident, now is around the corner.
    cheers,
