  • All of my still images & generated text look horrible once rendered.

    Hello there,

Any assistance with this annoying problem would be greatly appreciated. I have been working at this for 3 days with no real results. I should also preface by saying I have been using Vegas for a couple of years and I have always rendered the exact same way (to AVI)and have never had an issue in the area in which I am requesting assistance.

    1. Rendering to AVI (23.97 frame rate) w/2-3 pulldown.
    2. Mostly video with some Vegas generated text media & a handful of
    jpg images

This has always worked fine for me, flawlessly…but this time around my text is jagged and horrible looking, my still images shake and are also horrible looking. I don’t really wish to change the way I have always done things, but in the interest of getting this project done I did try different methods. One was .MOV and the first time I did this, I ended up with a 67GB file for 35mins of footage. That was not acceptable, but it did actually look okay. Since, I have not been able to emulate this.

I should also note that i have tried a solution posted in another thread, which involved doubling my frame size in the media generator window. This did absolutely nothing to correct the issue.

Finally, I did purchase a new system recently, which is much faster and updated from what I was using and also vegas 8.0, instead of 7.0…so its possible that some basic setting is amiss somewhere, but I’ll be darned if I know what it is.

If I hadn’t done this successfully so many times, I would question what I’m doing, but now I’m just lost as I feel this should be working.

Thanks so much to anyone and everyone who can provide assistance on this.

What are you putting on the timeline (file-wise)? What are your project properties? What are you exporting to (codec, SD, HD)?

It sounds like it may be reading your field order wrong (lower field first or upper field first) even though you are attempting to do progressive. Make sure that your imported footage is matching up field order wise with what it truly is.

    Hi Jeremy,

    I appreciate your response.

I am not super familiar with alot of the technical details of the software. All I know truly is that I import DV video (usually I use my nicer camera, this time I just used a little handheld), but essentially that shouldn’t matter as I am not having problems with the video, only the clips of text and still images.

The still images are just simple jpgs (I know this isn’t the best format, but I have never had an issue before in any vegas project I have ever done).

The text is all generated right in vegas itself…it should be perfect no matter what.

as far as field order…please clarify. I know about lower and higher, but I have never had to set or change this before. What would be the determination here? Thanks!
