ALL NEW ACCOUNTS ARE MODERATED. Please read for details.
Greetings,
Thank you for joining Creative COW! We are happy to have you, and look forward to you finding your place among us.
Please note: ALL NEW ACCOUNTS ARE MODERATED. One of the ways that we have established and maintained the high signal-to-noise ratio here, as well as keeping our hundreds of forums so free of spam, is that we moderate every new account.
THERE IS NO SET DURATION. It has nothing to do with length of time whatsoever, but is generally related to posting. There is no specific number of posts, but more posts are definitely better, with quality weighing into the quantity.
Here’s the thing. We have nearly 300,000 members. Up to thousands of posts every single day. It all looks very orderly on a forum-by-forum basis because it IS very orderly, and it takes work on our part. This is one of our most important and time-consuming tasks. We believe that the results speak for themselves.
It’s easy to forget that things on the net were insane in 1995. In fact, the internet had only been publicly available for a short time. For the first several years, every single post was moderated. ALL of them.
It’s nothing like that anymore of course. The internet is much more mature, and there are many automated tools for catching the worst spam before it even arrives in our moderation queue. In the early days, though, moderating posts is what kept us on the air with high-quality content through years that saw other forums come and go.
That said, we know that time is of the essence for you. The folks who started Creative COW were in the production business themselves. They founded the original version of the community in 1995 in part to get the help they needed in their own business. We’ll keep things moving as quickly as we can.
In the meantime, please don’t take it personally that you’re being moderated.
