I opened a project that I had started to a few weeks back & it opened OK & doesn’t mention an missing clips that could not be found. On the time line I had had about a half dozen MOV files include in project.

Now each of these clips is displayed as black. These clips have audio but no video. An unwanted version of Quicktime was recently installed & I suspect this might be the problem. Is this likely to be the cause of problem & if so hoe do I fix it?

    Thanks in advance

    I guarantee that it is.

Uninstall the new version and install whatever the previous version was.
Older versions of QuickTime can be found on the Avid site.

Yea, depending on what version of Vegas you are running, you probably want nothing later than Quicktime 7.6.2. Vegas Pro 9.0d+ fixes this problem so you can use the latest Quicktime again.

Thanks for that. I now have version 7.6.2 installed & once more the clips can again be seen. Could I have just uninstalled Quick time entirely & have the clips work?

It would be nice to think that one could just ignore all of these sites that try to push their way onto your machine because they are all supposedly essential to play your file It wouldn’t be so bad if they also didn’t also try to take over all file associations.

    Thanks in advance

No. not if the files are Quicktime MOV files. You need Quicktime to play MOV files.

Just turn off auto update. Then things won’t get broken.

AS I said I now have version 7.6.2. installed. I clicked on my iTunes icon & now get the message that I need version 7.6.4 or later for iTunes to work. There must be some alternation solution to this because I had both the MOV clips working in Vegas & ITunes. Does anyone know what the work around is?

    Thanks in advance

The only workaround is to use Vegas Pro 9.0d or later (this has the fix for Quicktime) or downgrade iTunes on that computer. Apple broke Vegas with their latest Quicktime and Sony fixed the breakage in their latest release. You need to be on the latest release (or upgrade to Vegas Pro 10).
