Hey guys, I am trying to align some footage–I have one set of pre-composed footage aligned to the 1920 x 1080 comp size I have set.

However, it’s been pre-composed, so the standard for how I resized it (the footage original size is 5028x 3088) is lost.

I am trying to resize newly imported footage so it aligns with the way the precomposed footage is resized.

Does AE offer a faster/more effective way to do this than just fudging it?

If the new footage is the same size as the first (5028x 3088) it should be easy- duplicate the precomp in the project panel, open it and select your footage layer. Hold the Alt key and drag over the footage layer the new footage, to replace it. You will get the exact same positioning and resizing as the original.

You can also hit Cmd/Ctrl-R to bring up the ruler, then click and drag from the ruler to create guides to see if that helps.
