So I just made the leap from 7.0 to CS3. However, I am importing HDV footage, and it comes out really aliased! It looks fine if I click it to preview it from the project menu, but if I drop it into a composition (that I’m nearly positive has been configured correctly), it looks really aliased, to the point that I can’t pull a key off of it! It also renders aliased. What changed between 7.0 and CS3? I’ve scoured the program and the internet for an answer, but no luck! OpenGL has been disabled as my preview option. I know all of my footage is set to Best quality, highest resolution (1280×720), and it’s progressive footage. I was able to make a false-3d shot from a high res still photo at the same resolution, but I did not have this problem. Any ideas on what’s causing this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Aaron.

Don’t import HDV footage. Use your NLE app to convert it to something like Animation, uncomp 822, P-JPEG 100% or ProRes before importing into AE.

Did you try interpreting as 960×720 with a different pixel aspect ratio (PAR)?

Did you try switching on/off PAR correction in the comp window?

Did you make sure to interpret the footage “no fields”? If AE separates fields on progressive footage, it will look aliased.
