Here’s where i’m at and where i’m stuck:

The rushes were shot in Log C ProRes 444.

    My Workflow so far goes:

I import the 444 rushes using import XML
Put them on the timeline and add Nick Shaw’s LUT filter
Drag them (with added LUT) to a folder in the browser
send to compressor to create ProRes Proxy files to edit from.

All good so far, however when I export from Compressor, for some reason the Reel number disappears. The embedded TC is still there though.

I want to do this through Compressor rather than batch from FCP so I can log as I transcode.

So my questions are: Why is this happening? I tested doing it directly from the files in finder rather than from FCP and it kept the reel number. Is it an issue if I just add a reel number in the column in FCP?

Please, any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Matt

[il chino] “Why is this happening? “

Compressor doesn’t pass through 90% of the metadata. Not designed to. If you want to recompress your footage and retain all of the metadata, you need to use the MEdia Manager and the RECOMPRESS option. That does it perfectly.

    Should be fine.

    Thanks Shane,

Have been going through compressor as I want to carry on using FCP as it’s transcoding, media managing it would mean FCP being in use. But thanks for the info. Shame MM can’t run in the background like compressor does.

I’ll probably continue with compressor and add the Reel info to the clip through FCP.
