  • AJAioLA to Beta via component question

Posted by Matt Hall on April 28, 2005 at 3:39 pm

I have my ioLA (latest drivers and firmware) hooked up to my UVW-1800 beta via the component output of the iO to the component input of the Beta. When I monitor the Beta the picture has a disctinct purple color. I have a feeling this has something to do with the output of the iO being “Pr/R, Y/G, Pb/B” and the input of the Beta “Y, R-Y, B-Y”. Now my video engineering expertise is pretty weak, can anyone give me an explanation?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I’ve changed cables and have the same problem. I’ve connected the different cables from the iO to a monitor and the picture has been fine, then I connect them back to the beta and it’s purple…

When you say you connected cables to a monitor I assume it was a monitor with component (R-Y, B-Y, Y) input. If so you may have a bad connection on your UVW1800. You might check it with another deck if you can borrow one (any format with Betacam Component in should do).

    Matt,
you might want to check that “view external video” in FCP is not set to RGB 8-bit, but YUV 8-bit. I get the same reults when that is wrong.
