I can’t speak to your situation, but I would say that AJA probably has better customer support of any company that I have dealt with in the NLE world… This was a big reason why I stuck with their product from V1 to V2…My best advice would be to give them another call.

July 8, 2005 at 5:33 pmMark, why don’t you post your problem here as well so that we can help look into it. Perhaps the problem is not in the K2 but with the SD-Connect ?

July 8, 2005 at 8:06 pmHi all:
Speaking of AJA support response, I got an e-mail from Rudy today, following up my ‘sleep’ issue — although it took a bit of time to get a response, it seems clear to me that AJA truly means to ‘support’ it’s users directly. And I appreciate that.
Also, the KONA 2 rocks. It blows my mind to see what my new setup is now capable of.
Best, JIM.

July 9, 2005 at 1:23 amThanks so much for all the response. I did have a great conversation today with Will at Aja, who was knowledgable and helpful. So I’m quite happy about the support over at Aja.
And I’ve got things working better now. I didn’t post in detail because I wasn’t sure if it was a Kona2 or SD-Connect issue, and I was having so many problems that it was hard to articulate what was going on, but now things are stabilizing, I’ve downloaded new software for the SD-Connect, and I’ve been able to successfully capture from and edit to my betacam deck. So while I’m still experiencing some odd behaviour, like periodically my canvas window won’t update, while the component out plays nicely on an external monitor, and then later the component out will freeze, while the canvas plays… Anyway, I’m going to spend the weekend with it, and then post with more specific issues as they arise.
If anyone out there is using an SD-Connect, I’d appreciate hearing how they’re making it work–I have yet to figure out a configuration that works for input and output–I have to switch it back and forth, which isn’t the end of the world.
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the rambling post. It’s Friday!

July 9, 2005 at 5:56 pmOk, I just cannot let this one go without a comment.
SD-Connect is not an AJA product, it is a Convergent Design product. It is infact an I/O device that may conflict with other I/O devices installed on the same system. I would not expect AJA/Apple/ConvergentDesign to support the use of the two I/O devices at the same time. AJA has done a great job in getting their iO products to work with their KONA cards, and the could do this only because they control the software drives for these I/O devices.
We need to give our great expectations a reality check.

July 9, 2005 at 6:08 pmWell said, and that’s why I was reluctant to post about specific SD-Connect vs. Kona 2 issues. I merely wanted to find out what to expect from Aja regarding Kona2 support.
The good news (along with the great support from Aja) is the two products appear to work together well, and the SD-Connect appears to be a viable way to bring analog I/O to the Kona2. I say “appears,” because I haven’t tested it completely yet. But if anyone’s interested, I’ll post again after I’ve been able to complete testing.
Cheers,

July 11, 2005 at 2:06 pmRelated to this post…
I’m having the same issue where my canvas window won’t update. It’s a little frustrating, and a temporary workaround is clicking on a different sequence tab, then clicking back to the sequence I’m working on and it will refresh. This will only work for a short time.
Is this possibly related to the Kona 2? I was thinking it was an FCP issue.

July 12, 2005 at 5:29 pmIt is set to “Fit to Window”.
That’s usually what I have it set to and it has always refreshed.
Thanks.
