AJA or Matrox?
So we use HP elitebooks here to edit on.. (company purchsed not our choice) and we use CS4 soon CS5. We shoot on several formats. HVD, DVCAM, XDcam, soon XDcam EX as well as High Speed camera..
Would the addition of either an AJA io express or the Matrox MXO2 LE, Be a benifit for us?
I see these break out boxes and wonder thier usefulness for us. We capture and acquire all our own media. however do these devices offer hardware encoding to playback files on a laptop in realtime? and if so which on is better?
HDV and XDcam for us is dead slow on the laptops would the addition of one of these increase editing productivity?
thanks for any help on the subject. Im kinda leaning towards the matrox lot of great input options. -

For speeding up rendering- not too much. A faster computer would do the same thing in many instances. But monitoring to a specific broadcast monitor will be improved.
