AJA Kona LHe computer crash
Posted by Martijn Doornenbal on September 14, 2008 at 6:05 pmHello,
I installed the AJA Kona LHe in my computer last week. I updated the software, but now my computer crashes after ten minutes of work. It just stops so I have to turn the computer off and on again…
It not only happens when I work with FCP but it even happened when I tried to open Safari.
Somebody knows what can cause this problem?
My computer:
PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 with Tiger
FCS 2Martijn.

September 15, 2008 at 2:03 amAn LHe is not for a G5. YOu need the LH due to the diifference in PCI structures.

September 15, 2008 at 7:50 amHi Jeremy,
The LHe is for the PowerMac G5 with PCI Express slots. So that would work in this case.

September 15, 2008 at 3:29 pmSorry, you are right about that and I always forget about those versions of the G5.
What slot is your Kona in and do you have other PCI cards in there?
What versions of everything are you on? OS, QT, FCP, AJA?

September 16, 2008 at 8:57 amI have a similar issue here with our G5 (PCI-Express)
I´m running leopard since a couple of months on it with zero problems.
However since I installed LHe-Driver 6.0. It locks up the mac totally when I go to edit to tape in FCP. Otherthings work well!!??
Going back to 5.1 solved the issue. Didn´t contact any any Aja since I´m in germany.CU

September 17, 2008 at 10:36 amThe card is in slot 3. And I don’t have any other PCI cards besides the video card.
OS 10.4.11
FCP 6.0.4
Quicktime 7.5.5
I don’t know where I can find the version of the Kona card.I edited longer than 10 minutes today! About half an hour, but when I opened Log and Transfer it crashed immediately.

Sorry about that, got your post confused with another thread.
DId you contact AJA?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?
Have you tried putting the card in slot 4?

September 17, 2008 at 4:13 pmYes, I did contact AJA and I just got an email that they will process a RMA. Thats just an amazing service I think after two emails.
Anyway, I did uninstall the drivers and reinstalled them, but that didn’t help.
Today I installed Tiger on a firewire drive and boot from there. I could edit for some time, but when I opened Log and Transfer the computer crashed again.Slot 4 is the only slot I didn’t try. I’ll try that tomorrow when I get to work again.
Thanks for your help, Martijn.
