We are having a problem hearing audio through our speakers when we capture mini-dv from a mini-dv vtr or camera through the firewire prot. Only way to hear audio is by physically jacking in to the mixing broad with RCA jacks. I expected to hear the audio through the speaker without feeding it also to the mixer for monitoring. The meters in FCP indicated audio and we hear the audio after capturing. Can any one tell me if this is a normal setup or am I doing something wrong as far as perferences or audio/video setting.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this.

Which speakers are you expecting to hear audio come out of during capture? The computer speakers?

It is my experience when capturing in FCP via firewire, that the Mac’s built-in audio device does not pass audio through during capture. So we always monitor the audio during capture via concurrent analog audio outputs from the camera/deck to speakers or a mixer.

    Hope this helps.
