  • AJA Io sync issue w. analog RGB

I’m trying to capture the analog RGB video from a vintage JVC KY-1900 and its CCU (a RS-1900) into FCP 7 using an AJA Io, but have had no luck due to sync issues. The Io is supposed to accept analog RGB, but the image is scrambled regardless of whether I’m inputting black burst or reference sync from the CCU. The same sync issue exists when connecting the RGB and sync outs from a Sony DCX-M3 and its CCU to the Io.

Both cameras are connected via multipin cables to their respective CCUs; the RGB outputs to the Io along with the Sync out; and the Io to an iMac & FCP 7 via Firewire. Even the Io’s Control Panel shows the RGB signal is unstable in spite of being set to either Ref Sync or Wild. I also tried genlocking a camera / CCU to the Io with BB and various sync outputs from a JVC KM-1200 mixer with no luck.

Any suggestions would be helpful – Goal is to capture a cleaner RGB signal from a vintage tub cameras into FCP.

    Cheers — Mark H.
