Aja io LA capture issues w FinaCutStudio 2
I’m trying to capture VHS archive material via S-video using the Aja Io LA with current drivers and firmware updated. The control panel is set to S-video with signal present. When I go to capture in FCP it switches to composite, even though I’ve set FCP to S-video.
I trashed the FCP preference files, but no change.
Using FCStudio 2, OSX 10.5.7.
Any help would be most appreciated.

With the ioLA you need to choose the proper easy setup that is marked S-Video. With newer AJA products, you set the input on the control panel, with the io, you need to set the input with the proper FCP easy setup.

Thanks Jeremy, I’ve been using both the control panel, and the easy set up in FCP. But the issue is still there.

You don’t need to control panel. Try ununstalling first and reinstalling the ioLA drivers. Also, power cycle the ioLA.

Did that. Aja reads S-video on front panel light. As soon as I start up FCP with Aja S-video Easy Setup, the front panel light switches to Composite. Should I try iMovie? (I think I’m joking… maybe not).

**Edit – Wait, did you select the easy setup after FCP opens?
Nope, make sure to reupload the firmware too.
If that doesn’t work, trash FCP prefs and try again.
If that doesn’t work, I’d contact AJA.

Fixed it! This is an Aja error. I went into the Edit window of the Capture Preset and even though the Easy Setup is labeled S-video, the Capture Input is actually Composite. I changed that to S-vid and it works!
This should be made known to Aja users.
