  • AJA Io and edit to tape on Panasonic AJ-SD930

Our company recently integrated a new G5-based editing suite and Aja Io with an existing rack of VTRs, etc. We have been able to get all of the decks working on both capture and output, but have run into two issues with a Panasonic AJ-SD930 DVCPro50 deck: (1) we cannot Edit to Tape, and (2) we aren’t getting any output on the Sony reference monitor during this operation. FWIW, they are using a patch panel and in this situation, they have the NLE patched to the AJ-SD930 for editing to tape and the deck patched to the reference monitor for reference output. Also, if we just play the sequence, we have no problem monitoring it on the display. That’s the essence of the situation, but I’ll be glad to pass along any other relevant info that I can….I’m at home while posting this, so I’ll have to rely on what few brain cells I have left from Friday’s install.

When editing to tape on a 930, you have to set the playback offset to zero frames. The canvas and output to the deck will be out of sync, but it will lay to tape fine.

If the 5 frame offset is used like normal, the deck acts like it can’t see a signal and won’t kick into record mode. At least that’s my take on it…

    Hope this helps…
