    Hi folks,

editing a project that was shot in 16/9 anamorphic. I have captured it using FCP 5 anamorphic scale codec and have my sequence settings reflecting that. I will ultimately have to output to DVD and Betacam SP. I think the simple trick to maintain the aspect on the DVD is to make the track (in DVDSP4) 16:9 and that will give me the letterbox look. when outputing to betacam via the IO, I’m confused- is there a way to output a 16:9 sequence to tape via the io WITHOUT it squeezing the scope to 4:3 (instead putting the black bars on top or bottom)? Or do I need to just visually scale all my video in a 4:3 sequence to appear like 16:9 and then send that to tape?
I realize this question streams both AJA IO and Apple FCP, but I’m sure one of you has an idea of accomplishing what I’m trying to do. Thanks!

You need to nest your anamorphic sequence into a 4×3 (non anamorhic) sequence. load the nest into the view, click the motion tab, twirl down the distort property and change the aspect to -33.33. This will get yourself a letter boxed version of your anamorphic sequence.
