I hope it is OK to post here as I don’t see a forum for AJA’s converters. I have a 42″ Hitachi plasma display that has an unusual native resolution- 1024×1024. The DVI output of my Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme was confused by this- it assumed that the display was 1024×768 so I wound up with anamorphic (horizontally squeezed) display. Blackmagic says that this may be corrected by a future update to HDMI but I had to have the display working within a week. I called AJA tech support to see if I could run their HDP adaptor off my HDSDI port. They did not know if it would work with my display but promised my money back if it did not.

It works great at the default settings. The standard def modes are soft- not sure if it is caused by the HDP or the Multibridge. This is not a problem as I use the composite analog out of the Multibridge for monitoring standard def on the plasma and my broadcast quality monitor. The HD looks great in both 720P and 1080i and automatically scales to full screen on my Plasma display. Bottom line- with the wide variety of plasma & LCD monitors out there the HDP might be a problem solver for some folks.

but I believe that you can change the rez of the display in the settings. is it a computer display with that rez does it have a tuner?

The HDP should be able to play the footage at the image’s native rez (instead of the displays) if you turn off the scaling function.

that is looking at SD footage on ah HD display.

[POV] It is an HD TV with a tuner. It’s resolution does not change but it’s aspect can change with analog sources- not DVI or HDMI, however.

[POV] I can look at SD fotage on the same display via a composite analog input and it looks much sharper that the SD coming through the DVI input.

yeah one is an interlaced video signal being sent properly and the other is a DVI signal that thinks it should be a progressive display signal so yes the composite should look better than the DVI
