    Hello all,

Any one using this unit in it 60hz mode? That is in PAL land.

Our Local Var is ( they say ) being told by AJA that it wont work in PAL. AJA are reluctant to send one down to Australia for evaluation.

    Any one from AJA reading?

This thing can work in both 59.94 and 60.00.

I should be able to see PAL SD on a set from the AJA from the Varicam in 60.00 @25P

    Right??

Hi. We used a few of them down here. They all ended up showing a NTSC image. I’d thought that this was partly due to the Varicam outputting at 60FPS and easy conversion to 30FPS for NTSC. Wasn’t a problem really. All our gear it turned out was multiformat from Steadicam senders to additional SD monitors.

that is correct Tim, the device needs to see the 60 hz so that the Varicam can properly record the flagged frames for PAL.

    From AJA Tech support

< I > The HD10C2 works with all “PAL” 25/50hz based and all “NTSC” based inputs without any switch setting. The only time a 60hz setting relates to PAL is on our HD10A –The HD10A has a switch for 59.94 vs 60 hz. This switch needs to be in the 60 position for 50hz input. < I/>

I had aja contact me about this statement – AJA has a number of dealers down-under and its Converters and Desktop products are widely available around the world for both PAL and NTSC. Maybe your supplier is not an qualified AJA dealer and therefore cannot get converters from AJA. Contact support@aja.com for more info.
