I’ve been given a 720p Quicktime with AJA CineForm VideoOut as the codec. There is no video in Quicktime 7.6.6 or FCP 7 on a computer with a Kona 3 card with version 8.1 drivers.
I figure if my client can export with this codec, I should be able to find it somewhere to allow me to playout from a Kona 3 card, but I can’t find anything out there.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Jeremy.
I guess I missed that looking on their site earlier because usually a FREE download isn’t under “online store.” But it was also off to the side somewhere else and I missed it there too:)
So it works for this file now, but guess what – despite what the site says it isn’t always a real-time playback codec – our favorite type of codec! Thus, I get to render it all which gives me more time to work on this collage of pictures of you I’ve been working on.
It seems the AJA/Cineform collaborations are pretty much geared towards 3D and the Kona 3G because from what I hear, 2D video is over. 2D even in HD just wasn’t real enough. I also heard the fan mounted on the Kona 3G cards is really aimed at the future capabilities of reintroducing “smell-o-vision” for when 3D isn’t enough.

    🙂

Yes, you have to pay for the Cineform rt engine.

The problem with 2D is all the footage is so flat!

Just an update. The download is now available from here: https://cineform.com/gopro-cineform-decoder

Thought it was worth adding that to this old thread as it still comes up very high in Google.
