I have tried to download files from a 64GB P2 card to my AJ-PCS060 portable hard disk and keep getting error message that an unusable P2 card has been inserted. The card only has three short scenes, so it is not anywhere near full. The hard disk unit works fine with an 8GB card. I have checked and it looks like I have up-to-date firmware. Any suggestions? Does this just not work with a 64 GB card? Thanks

With the P2 store, a partition is created for the total file size of the card, not just how much data is on the card. So in your case, the 64Gig card won’t fit on a 60 Gig drive.

Thanks. It makes sense from a technical standpoint. From a practical standpoint, it means I can only download onto the disk with my 8GB cards…which is not good.

Jeremy is right. Consequently the P2 store will only hold one 32 GB card. They are only useful anymore for a few 16 GB cards or as a USB reader.

Can’t fit a square peg in to a round hole unfortunately. As has been mentioned, you can use the p2 store as a USB reader and transfer the footage off of the card to a laptop or other disk drive.

Wait, is this Norm in Vegas?

If so, howdy. It’s Jeremy from Maday. We rented a couple of lights for you back in December for the Harley Davidson shoot. Friends with Murphy?

I would like to use my P-Store as a USB reader for 64GB cards, but I am on a Mac. It looks as if I cannot upgrade the firmware to even read a 64GB card unless I have access to a PC. Can anyone confirm this?

    This is true.

That being said, I am not sure if you need to update the P2 Store for 64GB cards. The last time the firmware was refreshed for that thing was in May 2007.

I have that P2store and 64 GB cards. And while you cannot download the cards onto the P2 store, what I do is open Final Cut, then hook up the P2 store to my mac. I insert the card (it should appear on the Mac desktop, but I don’t use that). Then on Final Cut I go to FILE > Log and Transfer. Then files on the P2 card show up on the Log and Transfer and I select which files to bring into Final Cut, I also dupe those files onto another hard drive so that I have a backup for when I have to erase the P2 card.
