    Hi folks

We are looking at getting an AJ-HD1200A with bothe the HD/SD IO and FireWire IO.

    Here are our questions.

Why are the option board(s) so expensive?

How do you adjust the Video playback levels?

How do you adjust the Audio playback levels?

Is anyone using a “Legalizer” for SD broadcast safe levels?

    Thanks

    Fred

Not sure. I have the 1200A with all options installed and it came to just under $32k

With your NLE or Color Correction software. Firewire and SDI are digital transfers between the deck and NLE so your changes are made in the software. In my case, I edit with Final Cut Pro and I’m getting Final Touch HD for color correction.

Use scopes with any NLE system and you should be good to go there. Just use your color correction filters in your NLE to adjust levels as necessary. FCP has a “broadcast safe” filter but I don’t use it. I just use the on-board color correctors to dial in the levels.

Supply and demand the decks are less that one year old. I will talk a year or 2 for the prices to start coming down.

Not sure where you’re located Fred, but I purchased my unit from David Strupp and WH Platts here in Atlanta. They cover the whole southeast and I highly recommend them. In addition, ProMax is a great VAR as well.
