I used itunes to import songs from a cd to my computer. I imported them as AIF files. On my avid express i can import the files with no problem, but when i try to import the aif into my Media Composer, i get the follow error “Not that many bytes left.”

can someoe tell me what is wrong and how to fix this?

the only solution i have found is to bring the AIF into my xpress pro and then export it again as an AIF from my xpress. then i can import the file fine in my Media Composer.

but i have over 400 songs and do not want to do this.

any solutions to fixing the error?

    Hi,
Just so you know, when asking questions like this, it is best to list your system configurations and platform. That makes it easier to answer your questions. Oh, your web address/download does not work.

From a MAC point of view:

I find the best is to always use Quicktime and save as an AIF file. Do not get fancy with anything (ie: itunes or any other program). This requires one save, then one import into the program of choice (Avid, AE etc.)

Ensure your Quicktime settings are set to the appropriate sample rate (22/44 and stereo/mono etc.).
    Save as AIFF.
    Import file into Avid/AE etc.

We use all Mac Avids. Four ABVB express machines, one ABVB media composer, and an After Effects station running OS 10 and AE 6.5 – the express’s prep and do the assemble edits. Then the MC does the rough cut/fine cuts.

It works everytime when we use the old version of Quicktime. Before Apple started to want to take $29 just for the ability to save or export.

i am on a PC computer. not a mac. Although i own a mac and wish this place would switch to Mac’s and Final Cut pro.

the reason i used itunes was becasue it was simple. all i did was CLick ADD FILES TO LIBRARY and then Clicked CONVERT TO AIF.and this converted 100 songs automatically for me as i went to lunch…..is quicktime that easy?

What are the specs of the Avid Express and Avid Media Composer?

    Are they the same vintage?

    ie: both meridian

The was we do things here with multiple machines. We import once into the Express – then move the media over to the Composer. Then you are moving Avid media files, not the raw aif files. So all of the master clips are the same etc.

The Media Composer is based off of the Meridien. The Xpress Pro is not , it is based of of the adrenaline.

    Hi there,
At this point I am unsure what to suggest to you, other than moving the media from one to another – and not re-importing.

Sorry I cannot be of more assistance
