AI into AE distortion
Posted by Jeaster on November 15, 2006 at 11:16 amWhen I import .AI files into AE they are the same height but the width is squashed and generally, the quality of the strokes is poor.
Why is this?
I built the file in Illustrator on a document 720×576 and am using the same size composition in AE on PAL DV Widescreen preset. Thanks, James.

November 15, 2006 at 5:29 pmThe reason is that DV uses non-square pixels and AI uses square pixels.
Which version of each app are you using?

Illustrator CS2.“The reason is that DV uses non-square pixels and AI uses square pixels”
Any idea what I should do to work around this?

November 15, 2006 at 8:38 pmI went to Interpret Footage and changed the Pixel Aspect Ratio from ‘Square Pixels’ to ‘D1/DV PAL Widescreen’ and this has allowed the file to maintain its original dimesions but the lines still look somewhat ‘pixelated’. Any ideas?

November 16, 2006 at 4:27 amHi there,
Turn on continuously rasterize, right between the shy-hide layer, and quality button to the right of the Source Name column, you’ll see a switch that looks like a ball with spikes. turn that on.

November 16, 2006 at 10:11 amThanks. This has made the whole image clearer but the lines are still pixelated. They almost seem like they are dashed.
