Sorry if this is been gone over a thousand times. But generally, when bringing in a file from illustrator if the shapes combined to make a logo are on different layers, it seems to import them as separate objects. So, in order to do something like this example:

Do you just change the z space co-ordinates to look like they are one logo? Or is there another way to organize them in Illustrator before bringing them in? I’m a little confused about how to prep. I’ve tried grouping two objects (a circle with the text outline of a name in the center) and it looks like the name is chiseled into the circle, when I actually want to extrude the letters. Also how do you bring a file in and select each object separately so that I can assign it to it’s own set and animate independently? A lot of questions in one I know. But any help thanks.
