AHA!!! moment…
Hey,
Just a little FYI for those of you troubleshoot Avid problems (which is probably all of you). I was having EDL trouble recently (see previous post) and Avid Tech Support couldn’t fix it, instead recommending I uninstall, then re-install,…
Anyway, having just set up my new XpressPro 4.6, I hadn’t gotten around to turning off the Energy Saver (OSX 10.3.8). Each time I booted up the Avid, I got a message stating, “Don’t let the drives sleep, you idiot.” Even though I never left the machine unattended long enough for sleeping to interfere, I guess the mere threat of this freaked out the Avid, because as soon as I disabled it, my troubles with the EDL manager pretty much went away.
So, the next time a friend calls for advice on a weird issue, ask him/her to make sure the Energy Saver has been set to “NEVER.”
Maybe this is obvious, but it wasn’t to me.
Sorry, there were no replies found.
