I got several JVC HDV 720p24 tapes. With a few exemption all have capture abort due to TC break. Well.. That’s what FCP say.. All the tapes about 1 hr long NO PAUSE OR STOP ANYWHERE. According to FCP there are breaks but always at diffrent spots. All the related settings have been tried with no luck. All fresh updates OSX 10.4.11 FCP 6.0.2 Quicktime latest etc. As I was searching about this I found countless people having this issue but no real solution. Anything out there can capture HDV to Quicktime continuously ???

pixta, This may have nothing to do with your prblm, but a week ago I tried to capture some DV video and FCP gave me some TCB errors during capture where I knew the video was good. The project wasn’t important so I set it aside. Later that day I started running into Motion import prblms and the following day even more issues with other apps. The root cause was a corrupted directory on two of my internal drives. Disk warrior resolved the directory issues (also zapped pram, repaired disk permissions, & ran maintigit for good measure). All is well again.

Thanks Dave but I tried this on 2 different systems 2 different versions of FCP. The last one failing was a fresh FULL install of everything!! OSX FCP QT the whole thing. Waisted better part of the day with the process. The only way I can do this to use the SDK 23 package to capture m2t files and than convert them to QT with Streamclip. This way I got continuous video but no TC. The supposed breaks happen in FCP randomly in a middle of a sentence so I can not use that. The fact is that this problem EXIST and no one from Apple cares even to address the issue. In FCP or any other FCP related forums searching “Time code breaks” brings up pages and pages of posts. NOT ONE OF THEM HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION ANYWHERE. There are workarounds like I found and the thread dies and nobody cares. So if you need continuous footage from HDV use FREE STUFF THAT WORKS BETTER THAN FCP!!

    Psychotic rant over!
