  • AG-HVX200 PAL at 720p25 slows down in timeline!!

    Hi!

I’m new to all this HD and tapeless enviroment. So I beg for your understanding in advanced, im pretty ignorant but want to learn and need to learn much more.

I’m running a Macbook Pro with Leopard – 2.5Ghz intel core duo – 4Gb RAM
    With Final Cut Pro 6.0.4
Recently shot some footage in: Panasonic AG-HVX200 PAL at 720p25 on the P2 cards and when I log & transfer after picking my easy setup to Panasonic DVCPROHD 720 24 (since theres no 25 setup) when i pull it down to the timeline it asks me to adapt it to the timeline ¿?!
And when i do or dont it slows down every clip i have, serious slow motion.

Please guide me through the process, or give me alternatives to shooting fine quality footage with that camera and that laptop, my job depends on it!!

    Thank you so much.

Since you are in PAL land, choose the 720p50 easy setup. 24p is an NTSC setup.

So in the viewer, are the clips are normal speed? or is it only when you add them to the timeline, they slow down?

    Shane:

Thanx so much! Does that mean i cant shoot anything in 720p25?
I tried the frame rate converter and it said FCP doesnt support that format. that the file can’t be processed.

But in the easy setup i cant choose 720p50. in the DVCPRO HD format menu i only get in the use menu 720p24, 720p30 and 720p60 options!

if i choose in format the HDV option, in the use menu i get 720p50, but i shot in the panasonic HVX-200E DVCPROHD camera. and yes its also slow in the viewer. i think i tested every posible combination.

did some tests, and when i shoot in 720p50 or 1080p 50. it works perfect!

anyhow, thanx very much for responding, i hope i can find a way of shooting in every format the camera offers and knowing how to ingest the footage without problem.

    cheers!

What version of FCP do you have? Because PAL P2 support didn’t hit until 5.1.4 I think…I know 6.0 has it. 5.0.4 up to 5.1.2 did not have PAL support. Sucked to be European….

    Shane,

Thanx again for the interest. Actually i have Final Cut Pro 6.0.4

Thats what strikes me as weird.

It’s all very confusing….I’m about to quit everything and stick my tongue in a electric socket.

    cheers!

You should see DVCPRO HD 720p25 and 720p50…I see them. If you don’t, then you need to reinstall FCP. OK to do it over the existing application. Sounds like codecs are missing. And ONLY install FCP, nothing else.

    Shane:

That sounds awsome, and i hope it can be the solution, although i have a tiny problem….i dont have my FCP original copy, nor a backup. doh!

gonna have to find someone who can reinstall it. i hope that can solve it.

Is there any way to install all the codecs without re-installing FCP?

    cheers

    Fishy in deed!

They hired me and handed me over a new macbook with the software already installed. When i asked for the DVD’s so i could update, they told me there are no discs!

So im stuck here. it sucks man. but try making these people understand they need to buy the original software.

i’m just trying to find a hole so i can work decently.

    Cheers.

[Esteban Barriga Prado] “in the DVCPRO HD format menu i only get in the use menu 720p24, 720p30 and 720p60 options! “

Sounds like you have the NTSC submenu selected.

hit contorl-q. On the top right corner, you will see a drop down menu, change that to HD.

Then on the Rate: drop down, select 25.00fps

You should then see a DVCPro HD 25 preset.

    Hi People!

Hope you had a nice weekend. For me it hadsn’t been so good. already reinstalled FCP, got the Apple guy in here, compared the same footage captured from the p2 via firewire to another Macbook pro running Tiger with FCP 5. and it works perfect, he has no problem!!
I have a Leopard running, newer Macbook Pro with Leopard, more RAM and still have trouble with my log & Transfer. I get everything in slow motion. and just the first second of audio!!

    I’m going crazy!!!

    HELP!!

    Thanx so much in advance.
