What would you guys do? I was thinking about getting a 200 with two firestores and a Anton Bauer Stratis System. I own a production company where my equipment is all DVC-pro with an Ikegami HL-V73 and a HL-V77. I have money invested in a ton of Anton bauer batteries and lectrosonic wireless that are powered by DC power. So I guess my question is if you were me would you go backwards in my mind and get a 200 that is tripped out so that I can use my accessories or buy wait and buy a 500? The only catch is I am planning on traveling over seas on video shoots and the 200 is interguing because of the portablity issue, however going from a 1/3 chip to a 2/3 chips is huge.
My gut says buy the 200 and wait a year or so and buy a bigger camera once the technology settles down (the prices have droped in the past 2 years). What would you guys recommend if you were me?

I mainly do smaller 5-10 minute videos but I do have a couple 30 minute broadcast programs that are slated for this year. I am editing with FCP with Blackmagic design multibridge extreme on a Mac Pro. The reason for 2 firestores is that during a shoot I can transfer the files to a FW harddrive while I continue to shoot.

Thanks for all your help.. If you have any suggestions other than what I am thinking let me know. My budget is around $12,000 – $22,000 for equipment.

I guess that’s enough to get into an AG-HPX500 with lens but depending on what kind of sales taxes you will have there may not be anything left over for odds and ends.
    AG-HPX500……………………………=$14,000.00
    HD Lens…………………………………= $6000.00/9,000.00
    16 GB P2 Cards……………………….=$1200.00 X 4= $4800.00
Tripod Plate, porta brace case, matt box etc …….= $2000.00
    Macbook Pro/Ram/big HDD………=$3000.00

    OR

    HVX200…………………………………=$5200.00 (+free 8GB P2 card)
    16 GB P2 Cards……………………….=$1200.00 X 4= $4800.00
    Anton bauer adapters etc………….=$2000.00
    Macbook Pro/Ram/big HDD………=$3000.00
3 week stop over in Thailand (so you can experiment and get familiar with the camera)=$4000.00
or scratch the Thailand training trip and get a second camera and a P2 card reader etc. etc.

If you go for the AG-HPX500 you may find yourself wishing for a few ancillerary pieces or wishing you spent more for a lens a year from now but if you go with the HVX200 you can afford to get all the bells and whistles all at once right from the get go.

Thanks for the reply, In my budget is for basically the camera system, I have a macbook pro, 2 TB of firewire HDD’s and extras like poreta brace, tripod, matte box, jib etc however all of my extras are for a larger camera. Is it worth spending some extra money with the HVX 200 to adapt what I have or just get the 500? Is the HVX 200 good enough to compete with my ikegami DVC-PRO 25? With HD aside for the SD stuff how well does that look recorded on a P2 or firestore using DVc-pro 25 or 50 setting? Would you avoid the firestore issue an get a ta couple of P2 cards?
    Thanks
