  ag hmc 151 Panasonic camera workflow question

  With regards to this new camera by Panasonic, I have some basic questions about workflow. This would determine whether I buy this camera or not. I’ve asked Panasonic here in Europe, but so far, no answer. Maybe it’s because they don’t want to say anything before the camera is released in October in Europe. So here goes…

  It uses AVCHD mpeg 4 – I talked with a local salesperson and he says transferring is different compared to P2 cards but could not elaborate further as he didn’t have any experience with it.

  1) Does anyone know how I’d transfer the footage from the SD card to my hard drive using FCP? Does FCP autodetect it like it does P2 cards with the log and transfer command?

  My guess is that it would but I want to be sure.

  2) Can I mix and match HD footage with SD footage, assuming that the timeline sequence setting is set for normal PAL SD resolution – ie. 720 X 576? I would think that the HD footage would just be squeezed to fit the standard PAL resolution, but I might be wrong.
