Running CS3 Pro. Premium on XP SP3, I’ve noticed that whenever I add effects to a composition, the effects randomly cut off and back on, sometimes with the entire layer disappearing. This happens regardless of the effect I’m using and project I have open. Thank you for your help!

is it just in the preview window or in the final render?

if it is the preview window, do you have opengl enabled? if so, try disable it (preferences>preivews, uncheck the opngl option and set preview acceleration to adaptive resolution)… opengl is flakey in ae.

No OpenGL supported-the problem is present in previews, exports, and renders.

hmmm, how about multiprocessing? have you tried enabling/disabling it to see if there is any effect?

have you tried edit>purge>all to see if that has any effect?

you might also try rebooting… it sounds kind of simple, but i find it often helps when ae is behaving in unexplainable ways…
