AfterEffects ideal studio pipeline?
I was wondering what the ideal small business studio setup would be. Here’s our situation:
5 employees that all use aftereffects. We create training videos. On average each employee has a 3.0 ghz 1 gb ram regular type desktop computer. We have a couple mac G5s as well. We’re running on a gigabit network (though I’m not 100% certain that we’re utilizing it at its fullest potential).
Anyway we’re really struggling with setting up the ideal file server to manage all our assets. The main question I have is should we try to keep all our assets on a server (ie mostly uncompressed video files) and then have each employee pull from the server, or should we localize all the files on ea. computer and deal with the tons and tons of extra copies of files??
Being a small studio we’re just trying to get things rolling and I was wondering if anyone out there had a good suggestion for setting up a good pipeline for this sort of thing.
