After rendering rotated video freezes but audio continues playing
I’m using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. with Win XP Pro.
I received a video (.mp4 format, shot on an ipad)which was shot in horizontal format, but should have been in vertical. I rotated it by right-mouse clicking the video on the timeline, and using the Properties menu.
After rendering (keeping it in the .mp4 format, using the template supplied by Vegas), the first portion of the video plays fine, but then the image freezes while the sound continues.
I’ve tried rendering it to other formats, such as .mov or WMV 11, but get error messages.
Can anyone offer any advice?

I dont know the lack of capabilities in Vegas Movie Studio,
But first try rendering it in AVI uncompressed format and
see how that goes….If successful, the file will be large, but
you can drop this file back in vegas and render to any other format
of your choice without issues…hope it works!Steve Rhoden

How big is the original file?
What do you mean by “first portion”?
How does it play if you don’t rotate in Vegas – just encode a new file?Steve Mann

The original is 170 mb. It plays normally for about 10 seconds, and then image freezes, but the sound continues normally.

The un-rotated file plays normally.
After posting this earlier, I re-encoded it as an .avi and that played successfully. I converted it to an .mp4, and that plays as well.
